In December of 2023, Emmie wrote, directed, and produced a Jazzy Christmas Cabaret which raised over $1300 for Doctors Without Borders. Inspired by Ella Fitzgerald’s “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve,” Emmie developed a program inspired by the wonderful performers Sydney Borchers, Jess Vanek, and Dayna Palya where each played comedic characters and sang jazzy versions of Christmas songs. Music director Nick Sienkiewicz and Jad Jacob played duelling pianos. Additional arrangements were provided by Luke Molloy. The performance was live-streamed on Facebook, and in person tickets were pay-what-you-can. Accessible art is a important to D’Amico, and it was an incredible experience to work with these talented and capable artists towards a cause weighing heavy on our hearts at the holiday season.
