Emmie D’Amico (she/he/they) is a queer and autistic NYC-based director, writer, actor, emcee, comedian, and court jester. Upcoming, they are directing, devising, and producing a co-production based on the inspiring Night Witches of the Soviet air force in WWII in collaboration with PickPocket Project to be presented at Chez Bushwick on April 5th and gearing up to direct “A Comedy of Errors” at Staten Island Shakespeare which opens September 12th. You might recognize Emmie from her work: directing the new musical: “Schmidt Sisters: A Revolutionary Tale” which premiered to a sold out house at the Chain Theatre as part of Emerging Artists Theatre’s Spark Festival, the first staged reading of Sarah Sterling’s “Of Sorts” at the Women’s Playwrights Not Forgotten Play Festival, many episodes of the episodic play festival “Serials” on the mainstage of the Tank as a director, actor, and intimacy director, the world premier of Pablo Ceja’s “Against the Wall” at the Tank attic, 2022 writing/directing apprentice at Theatre Aspen, stage manager for the national tour of “A Charlie Brown Christmas, Live!”, interactive improv performer with the Wyldewood Players, director of the world premier of Emily Elliot’s “No Serious Stuff,” improv performer on the PIT house team “Queerprov,” director/producer of the Jazzy Christmas Cabaret which raised over $1300 for Doctors Without Borders, and frequent directorial/devising and managerial collaborator with the Youth Pride Chorus. A Pittsburgh native, Emmie is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of High Point University with highest honors and bachelors degrees in both collaborative theatre and English theatre where they received the 2022 Award for Excellence in Directing.
